Recently, the thermometers of Cheltenham have been hitting highs like the sweltering twenty-seven degree simmer today. The infamous shorts, bikinis and topless builders have been re-emerging from their hiding places since the beginning of summer and our unequipped town is left to cower away from the seemingly insurmountable heat waves. Melting make up and unsightly sweating aside, the unexplored health risks of being too hot are more serious than meets the eye.
Hyperthermia is known for causing trivial symptoms such as faintness, fatigue, cramps and exhaustion. It is less known that hyperthermia can often be life threatening, cause bizarre behaviour, and produce irreversible brain damage.
Therefore it is essential that we all actively defend and protect ourselves from hyperthermia.
How, you ask?

How, you ask?
1) Avoid excessive outdoor exercise in the presence of heat
2) Equip yourself with fluids…
3) …but avoid Alcohol and Caffeine!
4) Avoid over-dressing, it is not the season to be layering on jumpers and hoodies! A good idea might be to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
5) Use public transport where possible or cycle, rather than walk to catch the breeze
