MP's Perspective: Education

Being the 'youth' of Cheltenham, our MP (Martin Horwood)'s attitude to Education is directly relevant to us.

At the moment, Cheltenham boasts of an array of competitve schools some of which are Grammar and Indepedent. The schools thrive because of our MP's willingness to spend more on education. In the last three years alone we have managed to invest £1 million more on education than the County Council reccommends.

Mr. Horwood also supports the Fair Funding for Education and no forced closures campaigns as it is undeniable that the quality of schools around town is still patchy at best, and better equality needs to be achieved.

To further this, high quality teacher courses need to be funded and the Lib Dem policy to cut back on SATs testing and encourage less instrusive monitoring should improve the quality of the town's education.

If David Cameron and the Tories get into power, promising huge tax
cuts and more competitive admissions policies, everyone knows the atmosphere
will instead be one of spending cuts and political interference- Martin Horwood
