Dealing with the Recession...

If only money grew on trees...

Though magazines such as ‘Fortune’ seem to be keen on pressing people to ‘make the most out of the recession’ and benefit from the crisis that we are all facing, the majority of people aim merely to get through it.
Here are some rules every recession-shy liberal youth should follow.

1) Develop an excellent work ethic
In the current economic climate, employers are happy to clear out entire lower tiers of the employment hierarchy without batting an eye. Being students, those are the tiers where we belong in. Why? Because young and inexperience workers are considered inefficient and lazy. The only way to combat this is by going against the trend. To stand out among the sea of lazy teens and outwork the competition.

2) Paper-free campaigning
Printing, paper and distribution costs are massive. To campaign effectively with minimum cost, the best way would be to abandon the less effective ‘leaflet’ strategy for paper-free campaigning.

3) Don’t forget to spend
Though as always, reckless spending would be very unwise, it is important to remember that the downward spiral is caused by the unwillingness of people to spend! In order to crawl our ways out of the current recession, we need to rekindle the huge spending force of the British people. How? Simply by spending. Buy that top you’ve been lusting over for weeks, or invest in a brand new game console.

4) Help around the house
Stress levels have soared to an all-time high and with the stress levels have soared with unemployment rates. To help improve the social atmosphere and to give your parents a chance to relax, helping around the house would be a great place to start!
